Wednesday

Winter Wonderland

Came to East Texas to visit Mu & PawPaw (Grandparents). Weather forecast stated we'd have snow flurries on Christmas but it wouldn't stick to the ground. 3-4 inches of snow later...LOL

Tuesday

The Past Few Days

Got a call Wednesday (12/5/12) afternoon stating Jaz had a fever and I needed to come pick her up. She looked terrible. So I did the Acetaminophen/Ibuprofen shuffle every 4 hours and hoped the fever would pass. Thursday morning, her fever was 102.7. Decided it was time to visit her pediatrician. Got there and fever was 103.5. They tested her for strep and flu and did a chest X-ray to rule out pneumonia. All came back negative - except for Type A Influenza. Grrrreat. Soooo...she was prescribed Tamiflu and Pulmicort and Zithromax (Doc said the flu would probably evolve into a bacterial infection - evidenced by green mucus. She was right. Yuck.)

We have insurance. Tamiflu was $85 WITH insurance. Mother. Of. God. Yes, I still have sticker shock 5 days later. LOL.

Soooo her fever vacillated on and off through Sunday morning and finally went away. She was bummed out that she had to miss two days of school. Yet, she was still lethargic and lying down whenever possible. Mother's intuition (yeah, I get that sometime...lol) told me I'd better keep her juuust one more day. So she missed school yesterday. But she had an extra day to rest and cough up all that nastiness and sleep as she pleased. It worked.

This morning, she leapt out of her bed (finally slept in her room and I had my bed to myself! Gloraaay!) and was eager to go to school. I was pretty hyped about being able to be around adults, honestly.

I worked until 6, instead of the usual 5. Got to daycare at 6:10 and heard "Mom, remember I have to be at school at 6:35 to sing at Supper With Santa?!?" Whaaaaat?! So we rushed home and found tights and a dress that didn't need ironing. Through on some boots, quickly raked a brush through her hair and rushed to her elementary. Got there at 6:40. Just in time as the kids were lining up to walk to the cafeteria.

Yes, I recorded it. Behold, the awesomeness:
We all know she's the tallest up there on the left.

Anyway, the pictures below:

This is how she looked on Thursday, Sunday and today.

What an eventful 6 days we've had! :-)

This is us after she sang with her class at Supper With Santa.

Monday

Tacos!

Had tacos for dinner tonight. Jaz fried tortilla chips. She was SUPER excited about it! :-)

Tuesday

Black Panthers at the polls!

This is how I feel when I keep reading about Black Panthers opening doors at voting stations across the country...and no one can provide a specific location or even a city where this is taking place. All I keep reading is a "A friend told me..."

Election Day

Saturday

Rock The Vote

Yesterday was the last day of early voting. I left work at 4:45 and got in line at 4:50. A really really long line. At 5:30, I knew I wouldn't be able to vote before the daycare closed at 6:30. I was standing between two men. I told them I needed to go pick up my daughter from daycare because I knew I wouldn't have enough time. I asked if they'd mind holding my place. Both said sure! So I had to interrupt her dance class so she could come help me vote. We got back in line at 5:40. At 6:40 PM, we voted to re-elect President Barack Obama. And I'm glad my kid got to experience that with me. And they all said AMEN! :-)

Discovery Green and The Quilt Festival

Today, we perused the International Quilt Festival at George R. Brown Convention Center and then walked across the street to Discovery Green. Really cool stuff but most of it had signs asking you not to take pictures. Oh well...lol

There just so happened to be a Korean Festival going on so that was pretty cool. Jaz played on the bouncer, got her face painted and then played on the playground. Then...it got really cloudy and I felt sprinkles. I told her we needed to get food so we could go do we then stood in ridiculously long lines.

She got the Gimbap and I got Kimchi Fries. Delicious!

Oh...we didn't know how delicious we were until we got back to the car. We almost ran since the rain was starting to pick up. As soon as she got in and I walked around to my side and got in? Thunderstorm. Not no regular storm. A Houston thunderstorm. So I told her we could just eat in the car until it passed. We finished eating. Still hadn't passed. LOL. Nevertheless...back home we came. Super fun day!!!!
